I'm using 6922's in my phono preamp and really like them as well. 3 inputs, one output, and a remote controlled volume and selector, so no knobs or switches. With R4 = 330R the first stage gain is 8. I've been using it this way for 10 years now. Ignoring any other factors, the choice of tube could rest solely on how much gain is needed from the preamp, and chances are that it’s not very much. I will be building this design with a B+ of 300V and 12AU7 tubes.
